Hey hey hey! If you think this blog is dead, you're so wrong! In fact, we are teaming with gigs and preparations for championships. Oh yes, we are competing in championships as usual annually. (: okays, so since no one update, I shall save the day! (wow.)

For guys, colourful tops, jeans, jacket/vest/blazer

please wear sneakers. we are suppose to look as youthful as possible(:

After that emo/content-heavy last post, here's one to cheer you guys up! It doesn't have much links to what we're doing (unless you count the fact that Poker Face and Bad Romance are related since Lady Gaga sang both of them) but I hope you enjoy it. Personally I think Johnny Weir really shakes up the technical (read: boring) world of men's figure-skating.

Hey everyone!

I hope you guys check this blog periodically - because it's for us to post updates when it gets inconvenient and time-consuming to send messages to everyone! (Here's a test: tag on the tagboard when you read this blog so we know who's the most hardworking! HAHA.)

Anyway CONCERT IS COMING. Okay this is quite serious... Because it's roughly in FIVE WEEKS. And we've learnt barely half the songs. We can't even talk about perfecting anything right now. Or doing choreo. =/

TAS Yv might not be the ideal activity in your opinion right now, and you might not be fully satisfied with the way things are going. If so, tell someone! Anyone! If everyone tells everyone what and how they feel about things now (our singing standard, the organisation of the group, the way we work etc) then more people will understand. If more people understand, more people will be convinced to do something about it.

I'll just take this opportunity to talk about some things... Firstly, to be honest, I'm panicking, because as I said before we don't have time. We need around 21 to 23 songs for concert. Currently we've only learnt about 9 to 10. That means learning about 2 songs every week from now on. Even if we do that, we don't have time to fine-tune it or do choreo. The result? A very boring and sad concert where the singing is not up to par.

I'm sure all of you wouldn't want that to happen. After all, our enjoyment and reputation is at stake. Last year the scenario was better because all the songs were those we've learnt before. But this year almost all the songs are new. That's a challenge we are facing, and we must have the commitment to face up to it! I don't want to go through the panic of not having songs learnt the week before concert. Then when we step onto that Esplanade stage, in front of 240 people, we embarrass ourselves by singing off key, by not being on time, or by not being confident about what we're doing (trust me, it shows). Plus, I can tell you that members of the public have already bought tickets. So this makes getting the concert right even more important.

I'm definitely not the best in TAS Yv. I certainly don't have the best voice, or personality, or whatever, but this is my honest opinion and what I hope to bring across to you guys. I'll do my part by learning my songs and trying my best to arrange stuff and help the altos (or anyone else). But all this won't matter unless everyone does the same. Because as clichéd as it sounds, we're a team. We can't sing a cappella unless we have all the parts.

SO I really hope everyone learns their songs okay? Learn If fully and memorise Don't Call Me Baby. Learn Wait A Minute (fully, if possible. Otherwise, try your best please) and fine-tune 1973. If you're keen on making this work, memorise all the other songs too (I Believe, Let It Be, Celebration, Elijah Rock, Bad Romance, Heal The World, Change The World). Meanwhile I will be working on 1963 (just to update you guys) (: And MIDIS AND NWC for If ARE ONLINE! MIDIS for 1973 ARE ALSO ONLINE! Tell me if they don't work, I'll try to do something about it. Basses please learn Tears On My Pillow. I will send you the scans.

Do ask your SLs if you have any questions etc. Any concerns about the system etc can be forwarded to Jeremy (he's the I/C, after all). Jiayou okay guys? Oh and practice next week should be the same time as this week, and David will be coming in. It's lame, by the way, if we keep showing him the same old songs week after week lol. So practice the songs listed above!

BTW I bought gummy worms last week but forgot to give them out (HAHA) okay so remind me to give them out next week. And don't forget to tag! <3

Hey guys, here's the rough outline of activities that I planned for sunday's chalet(:

Before 3pm (27th dec):
Samuel meeting those few who volunteered to go for BBQ shopping at
parkway. Includes time to go to the chalet. (own time own target. I
can't join you all for that sadly cos i need to go to church. sorry.)

3pm to 4pm:
*book in
*we need a few volunteers to cook some food 1st for dinner at BBQ pit
(in case of wet weather)
*free time/chill out time or maybe we can play truth or dare (:

4pm to 7pm: games! preferably outdoor (refer to games listed below)

7pm to 9pm: Dinner!

9pm to 11pm:
*gift exchange
*maybe we can have a sharing session about being in TAS so far this
year? or hopes for next year? you decide(:
*games again?

11pm (27th dec) to 10am (28th dec):
*your own free time. you can play board games, majong(omg), taiti,
etc...
*sleep if you want to haha

Hey everyone!

Yep the video freak strikes again haha. I figured since updates are almost done for the year I'd like to share this awesome video. Look at the enthusiastic choreo! Blending (with almost a 100 people, no joke), pitching is relatively great, plus it's one of my favourite Queen songs done a cappella. And you guys might recognise some of the groups too, especially since the Tufts Beezelbubs (first group out) are coming in January (right? xD) Yep it's a whole series, basically an a cappella reality show so happy watching all the amazing episodes... okays, this is my very very very very 1st time posting in this blog(: hehe

1stly, SPRING CLEANING.

I know it's kind of early as chritsmas is not over yet, but does anyone want to volunteer themselves to help out in spring cleaning on the 28th, 29th and 30th of this month? If you do, please do let Jeremy, Victor, Elaine or me know(: It's for the benefit and comfort of everyone else in Tapac(: so it would be greatly appreciated if you can help!^^

here's a list of what we hope to accomplish within this 3 days(:

*Clear out things that we do not need anymore (e.g. broken chairs and tables, etc..)
*Dust and mop the area
*Decide on colour to repaint walls(:
*Repaint/recolour the 2 boards on the walls
*Scrape the falling paint off the ceiling
*A layer of white wash on the ceiling, followed by repainting (white)
*Rearrange the furniture (explains why we need MAN/guys to help. XD hehe)
*Deco!^^ lols

yeps, and that's for spring cleaning(:

2ndly, Plans/Ideas for next year's concerts.

We need flowing and innovative ideas for next year's concert. For example, are we going to stage a musical? (think along the line of High School Musical-.-''') what about songs suggestions?(: for example, Victor suggested singing fireflies by owl city(: we could suggt songs and try to ask people to help us arrange it. (if that is possible)

So, please please please do feedback some constructive ideas!(: Thank you Thank you!^^ haha

Hey everyone,
It's been awhile since I last blogged in this rotting blog. However, for your interests and well-being, I shall touch on a few issues that I've spotted during the pop choir rehearsals. As you all know, the competition is only a few days away... And at this rate that you guys are going, you guys are only wasting your time and effort away. Therefore, on behalf of Jeremy and Jo, I would like to "abuse" my authority as music director to give you a few opinions on what I feel about the pop choir's performance.

Chili con carne was surprisingly very badly sung. It only seems to me that most of you did not treat the rehearsal seriously enough since you did not put in your 101% into your singing. It is very important that each and everyone of you treat the rehearsal as important as the actual competition so as to prepare yourself for the upcoming competition. By having the mindset that the rehearsal is merely for play and fun, you guys are only wasting your time away. Most of you, especially the new singers, have not memorised your notes fully and it is obvious enough just by hearing. I do hope that you guys would try your best to practise your notes at home, eventhough I know it's tough for the new singers.

Note: For the new singers, be more confident in singing, practise your notes and record your own singing. Listen to it and review on your singing. This helps to improve your vocals. Also, for stage presence, practise in front of the mirror. DO NOT be stiff. This also applies to other singers as well.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, you guys are LACKING dynamics.
The dynamics are either not obvious enough to be heard or you guys are just singing whatever you guys have memorised without thinking about the dynamics.
It is important to note, that singing is JUST LIKE reading a story.
It is boring to hear a monotonous storyteller compared to one who is animated and dynamic.
Every song has a story behind it, therefore, it is important to remember to tell the story behind the song. I'm sure David has gone through the dynamics with you guys.
Example, the key change "flavour of mexican sunshine" and back to "chili con carne" has 2 different stories and scenarios behind these 2 lines, therefore sung differently.

If you guys are unable to remember small details like this, you guys should also be disciplined enough to take out a pencil during rehearsals and jot down notes, like in the past. I don't see anyone doing that anymore, though.

Also, it is very important for each section to blend well with each other. Altos and tenors tend to have a problem to blend with each other as your voices are too different from each other.
Try listening to each other and blending with each other so as to achieve one voice.
When there are voices sticking out, it affects the blend,harmony and there are also pitch problems as well.

Tenors also had a few pitching problems in Come Back Home. This might be also due to blend, [refer to previous paragraph] Please make use of what David has taught you on how to blend with one another so that your voices don't stick out. And please be confident when singing. It is very obvious that everyone is waiting for each other to sing, for example during the line "Where are you darling?" As long as everyone keeps silent, the word "where" is forever delayed.

Celebration was not much of a problem, just that you guys tend to go sharp. This is a common problem for fast-paced songs though. As long as you guys stay on the same pitch together, it might not be much of a problem. Note, as there are lack of sopranos and a major overload of altos, please listen to each other to ensure a good balance between the singers. We do not want the sopranos' voices to be drowned or vice versa.

AND, please do your choreo properly. The more hesitant you are in doing it, the more dumb you look. If there are any disagreement or whatsoever regarding anything, please let anyone of us know. We do not want any elements of negativity of any sort.

It may be true that having fun during rehearsals is also essential in the rehearsal, but everyone should also have the responsibility to practise discipline when it comes to singing. There are times when you have to be serious and when you can have fun. This MAINLY applies to the guys who are in nature, more playful and insensitive towards their environment. However, I'm sure with everyone's cooperation and help, these people can also be encouraged to practise discipline as well. It is very tough to only depend on people like Jeremy and Jo to ensure that the whole group is disciplined.

Please reflect on yourselves and think of how you can make the group better-sounding instead of just being trash-quality. I'm sure you guys have also realised that the standard of the group has been declining like crazy these days. For the benefit of TASyv, please put in your utmost efforts to get the group back to where it was again.

deepest apologies for the late late update on tmr's gathering.

we'll be having a PICNIC tmr at the EAST COAST PARK from 2pm onwards where we are able to swim in the waters there. each of us will have to bring and contribute food, drinks and snacks, since we are not barberqueing this time round. we have also thought of activities that could be carried out during the picnic that could be enjoyed by both majority of children and teenagers and hopefully even adults :D

Hello everyone!

It's my first post on this blog (lol) but anyway, guess what? Concert is two days away! O_O

After the many months of rehearsals, long hours of practice and hard work, the day is finally nearing. Time passes so fast, it seemed like yesterday that I started learning Chili (thankfully, though, it wasn't). It's crunchtime ! So jiayou guys, I know we all can do it. Perhaps in some songs we're not musically there (blending problems, balance, etc.) but we can make up for it with stage presence, energy, and engagement with the audience! So at home, practice singing with a smile, practice in front of your siblings, aunties, uncles, grandparents, parents, your neighbours, pet fish, practice in front of the mirror, and get comfortable with moving along to the song. It'll come in useful! It's very obvious to the audience if a performer is nervous or not focused, so all the extra practice will help ((:

Of course, hitting the notes and listening to the others (especially your section-mates and the section you're harmonising with - for example, altos and sop 2s, and sop 1s and tenors in the verses for Chili) is also important. Dynamics and pacing is also crucial! Perhaps we can take note of these things for our last (><) practice tomorrow.

Anyway, I'm delirious by now (omg it's almost 0100h!) but the point is don't give up! There's still (a little) time left and better late than never. Let's run this last lap together, and sing our hearts out on Saturday!

i was thinking that sequins would be nice to be worn for the show.
especially with lightings, i think it'll look fantastic.
i suggest that ladies should put on clothes with materials like satin so that it kinda gives the glossy look on stage.
and especially for the fact that the ladies will be doing CANDYMAN on the 2nd half, i think we'll look good in pencil skirts for match the concept. try not looking like an office girl.

Dear all,

Please do take note of the following announcement:

1) Learn parts for Desperado. *Victor and Jeremy Tan Sing Baritone line.
2) There will most likely be no more solo and duet singing for the 16 May Concert as the time has already been fully packed. But please do prepare yourself in case we will need to fill in some extra time and so that you all are ready for the audition.
3) Prepare all old songs to be sung this coming Saturday, 11Apr 09: Elijah Rock, Wade in the water.
4) I have uploaded the excel sheet regarding the details of all the songs like which to be sung in pop choir and which to be sung in small groups and also who are the solo, etc. The songs are in order of which to be sung first.

Rehearsal this Saturday is still 3pm-6pm.

They lowered the prices and hope that we will go, so whoever is free and will not be performing for Waterfront, do support them =) Proceeds go to Eden School for autistic people.

Just some updates and announcements

Next week rehearsal, 28 Mar 09, Sat:

Songs to be done - Chili Con Carne, Change the world, Our story and I turn to you

Announcements:

1) This coming Saturday,28 Mar, we are going down to Metro to get a rough idea of what we are wearing for our concert. I will need people to volunteer to go down with Angie/Mrs. Sassarak after rehearsal.

2) Tickets sales updates for 16 May 09:

a. It is compulsory for all to sell/buy at least 4 tickets which means a total of $50. For christmas singers, the $50 will be cut off from your christmas pay. For the ones who just joined us this year, you can either make a loan from TAS YV fund or please do pass $50 to me for your the tickets. We will use that money from pay to buy 80tickets that is worth $12.50.

b. Each person is only entitled to 4 tickets that is worth $12.50. Therefore if you are going to purchase more than 4 tickets either ask your friend/family members to use their name to purchase the $12.50 tickets or ask around TAS YV to see if any members are unable to sell out all of their tickets and you can buy from them.

c. The tickets will be given out as soon as we are able to collect it, meanwhile just collate all the orders and inform me.

3) Whereabouts after 16 May 09 Concert:
I will need to know your schedule when the concert period is over so to prepare you all in teams for the a cappella championships. It is not a choice if you would like to continue with us, but if you do have good reasons, the management/committee will discuss about it.

**For A and O level students, once concert ends, the alternate rehearsal plan will be able to start which means for A and O level students ONLY, attendance cannot fall below 50% for each month.

4) Solo/Duet for 16 May Concert
As we might have time for performances other than a cappella singing. If you are interested in singing solo or duet with a guitar or any other instruments(exception of piano), please do inform us.

There will be rehearsal this coming Thursday or Friday from 10-5pm.

I, yohannis, will be organising an outing this coming saturday!

HURRAY~ -applause-

The last time I organised an outing was that random bowling one, LOL.

OH, BTW, Happy Chinese Niu Year ^^ bzzzzt.

After this saturday's rehearsal,
We will be having steamboat at Jo's house,

[Thanks Jo for letting me use your house&personal belongings etcetc. LOL.]

For those who cannot eat the steamboat -> Utensils used not halal,
Or allergic to crustation/seafood etc etc.

You can takeaway some nice food to Jo's house along the way ;D

Updated Midis for come back home

Sorry for this quite last minute update...

When I am learning the song for Come Back Home just now, I found some
mistakes in notes for the bass part. The mistakes has been corrected,
and the corrected midis and nwc has been uploaded to the group. The
other parts are unaffected but u may want to re-download the nwc and
the midi with all parts just in case u need it in the future xD

Hey guys...

Hope you guys have enjoyed and learned something from the workshop by Mr David Thian last Saturday on the dynamics and interpretation of scores... And of course hope you guys still remember the polished version of "I get around" and "It's you" =D

In anycase, Come Back Home Midis & NWC has been uploaded onto the google groups. Please do remember to check them out and learn your parts by the next rehearsal hopefully. I have seperated the score according to parts: S1, S2, S3, A1, A2, T1, T2, B1, B2. For the current S2s in the group, please download S2 and S3 midis and see which one u can sing better. And for the current S1 in the group, please download S1 and S2 midi part and see which one u can sing better too. Coz the score got some super high notes and as well as super low notes (that i don't even sure whether i can reach or not >.<) yeps. There won't be any percussion in this song coz its a very soothing and emotional choral piece =)

The tempo is not noted in the original score, and 120 seems a bit too fast... I currently set it to 105, and ppl if you are free enough you can try to listen to the midi at different tempo and suggest a good tempo for the song =)

Also, The midi cannot do any crescendo and decrescendos due to limitation of programs, but do take note that there are crescendos and decrescendos in the score, which I have noted in the NWC.

Yeps I suppose thats all from me... xD Hope you guys like the song... I personally like it a lot.

* BRING $5 for BBQ
* Meet 2pm @ Pit 31 Area B, Pasir Ris Park
* Bring at least 1 present for the gift exchange
* Pls bring 2sets of clothes to change.. You may get sweaty or wet..

Hey all... before the Big Rush aka the SATURDAY of DOOM aka 20th Dec, when many different people are going to have to emcee due to concurrent shows, I should do a short post about emcee-ing that hopefully will be helpful to you guys ^^

1) Write down the names of the songs and carry the list onstage... and write down keywords of random stuff that you may want to talk about in between songs to drag time (and so our caroling isn't just a song showcase). Wouldn't recommend writing whole scripts tho, so you'd be more natural, but this depends on your own style!

2) Relax =) Breathe deeply... practice being onstage more often so you can attempt to stifle stage fright. xD And slow down... no need to rush or get too excited!

3) The people watching you are Normal People! That means they won't bite you if you slip up... but it also means they respond to what you're saying, so try to make sure they're not bored! Say something interesting, talk TO them and not at them or worse, at your script... connect with them and make sure you're making it worth their while to be listening to you =)

4) We are Caroling = Spreading the Christmas Spirit. NOT showing off that we can sing very well. NOT being forced to come onstage. Remember, we have a job to do, and it's not just to sing nicely, it's to make people happy! That is why we're getting paid, even though not all of us are very good singers! But as long as we smile at people and sing to them and try to make them happy, we are doing our job ^^

5) Keep track of time, which you will realize necessitates some crap-talking! Haha but seriously just reading out the names of songs will not stretch a show for half an hour. More importantly, it makes the show kinda flat and one-dimensional, because there's like almost zero audience connection. So please think of something to say to entertain the audience. Not too long, but just to give some buffer time between songs.

Ok that's it. Lol. I don't often get to hear people emcee-ing (cos despite my ultimate cringeworthy emcee-ing comments on the first Taka show, Jeremy still put me as emcee for all my subsequent shows... zz) but recently I have and realized that okay maybe I should put this up so More People can emcee and improve I suppose! Hope it helps!

** TAS YV post-christmas celebration is confirmed on the 26th Dec @ Pasir Ris Park, Pit 31, Area B. It will be from 2pm onwards and we can stay overnight as we have the pit till 27dec,8am. *** Punctuality of singers. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! Do not be late for any shows. If you are late for 1min or a few hrs, please sms the I/C of the day. Do not let us call you repeatedly! Please be responsible for your own actions, we do not want irresponsible singers in TAS YV. We know if it is an afternoon show it maybe difficult for your to wake up early in the morning to meet. How To Juggle NS and TAS !!

HOW TO JUGGLE NS AND TAS

Hello everyone, it'll be my first time blogging here and I hope you'll just bear with what will probably be mostly pictureless posts from me (being a technophobe and all). Anyway, for you guys entering, or have already entered, NS, here are some tips that might help you as it did me.

1. Make sure your Commanding Officer likes you. He'll be more inclined to give you time-off or approve your leave that way. Doesn't matter if he's totally ****-up.

2. Make sure your colleages like you too. They'll be more inclined to cover or stand in for you if a need arises. And let them know early if you have a show coming up, especially if you need their help to cover your duties.

3. Save on taxi fare. And remember to ask for receipts. (Painfull experience here....) Oh, and save the Dial-A-Cab number in your handphone.

4.Do not land yourself with extra guard duties.

5. Keep in constant contact with Cindy =) ( I think I nearly drove her insane. Sorry Cinch!)

6.Earn as many off days as possible. Quite useful if you can take time-off on days after the shows too (so you can hang out and have dinner till late at night with those few who can only go home after a certain hour:P)

7. Quite useful to tell your SL or Jeremy where your camp is, allowing them to gauge how much time you need to get to a particular location. Like Takashimaya or DowntownEast.

8. If you can help it, get a vocation that doesn't need you to stay-in. If you can't help it, break your leg to confirm yourself a vocation in which you don't need to stay in ( Disclaimer: A JOKE!)

9. Get a driving licence and a car. If you can't, befriend a member of your unit who has a driving licence and a car.

10. And finally, the most important tip in trying to juggle TaS and Ns...... get enough sleep. Oh yes. You can't juggle anything if you're snoring away. It's quite impossible. Sleeping during work gets you extra guard duties. Sleeping during practices gets you no where and sleeping during shows gets you an extremely embarrassing moment in your life.

So there it is. Most guys should find this useful. Most girls should find this amusing. If you aren't like most guys or girls, you'll find this lame.

Btw, I'm typing this just two hours after finishing my 24 hour guard duty. I should never have drunk RedBull cuz now I can't get to sleep.

you know, i just thought it'd look better if i just post something about our vocal mania. haha~ to make those people who didnt turn up for vocal mania/ didnt participate jealous. muahaha! (k, i'm evil)

let's see, from my friends that attended the concert, they were saying that tasyv was not bad, courtsey to them (dont know if they're trying to be cordial, but oh well, i'd take it that they meant it. haha) so applause for the people who participated!

what i feel about the performance, well, to make us all improve, we ought to take note the communication between the group. "i get around" started off too fast, 'cause (i think) percussionist couldnt hear the snapper. (the one who started counting in), but we pulled it through. phew. haha. "hana" was SLOW, lol, but surprisingly people said it's not bad. BUT i almost laughed when the part "sore ga shizenn no" the clashing notes, and there's this auntie in front of us who arched her brows and lifted her shoulders. haha. either we clashed or it's meant to be like that and she cannot differentiate. haha! but it's a funny scene. =)
"fire" was not bad at all. HUDA u rule the song man!! people got awaken by your voice! (esp after they hear hana. haha) u can feel it in the audience, when they start to have the "de neng" in their eyes. same goes for 'faith'.
my friends seem to like huda and cinch's voice. haha! the diva and the sexy voice respectively. oo.. (fine, i'm nobody. oh well.)

hey people,

i'm gonna be harsh here. LOL. i'm not usually like this okay, i'm actually a nice person huh. haha. here it goes:

people having exams i understand. i look forward in seeing you guys. (like REALLY) people who have VALID reasons come late and cant come, we cant do anything; just hope that you guys can try to make it (on time) next time. for others who simply didnt appear AND didnt tell your SL or Jeremy please reflect~

TASYV is not just an avenue for you to sing and have fun without putting in effort and get quality results. you gotta have commitment towards this society. with people kept missing every week, parts missing here and there, how are we gonna get quality results? it's saddening that i go to tasyv every sat only to see few people. (last sat is a girl power thing- bass and tenors all gone, well except colin who came at 4plus, lol.)everyone has a stake in this. you, you, you and you make a difference in this society! if you think u dont sing as well, do something then; ask anyone, listen to nwc, midi more, come earlier with anyone to practise so that rehearsal can run more smoothly~ u got a part to play. i stress: YOU GUYS ARE IMPT, TRAIN TO SING BETTER!! =)

AND please do something about the Vocal Mania (and upcoming concerts). i know not everyone is performing coz u guys are not free. but since u're part of the society, please push for the tickets. really, tas is not a charity organisation (well, not EXACTLY) and we dont have strong sponsor foundation. they cant be providing free tickets all day long! do you want to sing to an empty hall? people dont just appear as audience. everyone gotta help! you can do the least by asking your friend to join u guys to watch, inform the choir, put it in your blog, put in facebook, put it as your nick; anything that help to increase the ticket sales~ we have a part to play, really!!

anyway, till now, we've sang through

the old songs- please revise- we MAY use it. we hope to learn new songs. so please, now we have the dance of the sugar fairy on nwc, go listen: it'd speed up the whole process. i'd check against my schedule, if there's nothing, i'd be in tapac in the morning (if there's no one else using the room) and u guys can come in if u need any help with the music alright? i cant help much but i'd try my best can?

SO moral of the story: please be responsible. actions speak louder than words. we want committed members, not just people who come and go and not know their work.

p.s. here's a link to an acapella group- the king singers. i get the chance to talk to vocal dente ( they went to perform for the international acappella festival ) and the king singers are one of their favourite groups. (well, i can see why)

they're classical singers, but still entertaining. and they're not born singers alright. from what i heard, they practise everyday 8 hours. the tenors took 3 months to perfect his "AH" vowel. and whenever there's new members, the group will whack and whack until everyone has the same mouth shape, same placements and things like that. it is their commitment that makes them like this. of course we dont have the luxury of time to be like them. but we can make baby steps. so think: what exactly u want out of tas, then act upon it. =)

First of all... I shall say good luck and jia you to all the ppl who are buzy preparing for their Os and As, and well done for all the ppl who have completed their EOYs... Why well done? Coz its never easy to mug. Hahas. So even if you don't get good results, just don't be discourage and continue to jia you next year!

Secondly... Last saturday we have 3 new comers! Hmm.

Two weeks ago, Daniel came back from Europe (yay!), bearing the most hilarious gifts:

Needless to say, the boys went crazy over the uh, chocolate coated marshmallows, and within minutes everything disappeared except one which was saved for me:

As you can see, the boys are enjoying their Dickmanns very much.

Oh, and on the way to dinner, Willie decided that he hadn't got enough of the Dickmanns so he went to court trouble with Cindy:

Okay, this blog is so gonna die; i shall do the honour of reviving it. -_^
so suggestions!
1) should link every tas member down here. i'm sure the chances of them getting themselves updated is higher this way. in that way, people will know what's going on! yeah!
2) really, there should be a media box to listen our WONDERFUL (ahem..) voices! (or at least let everyone listen so they know where to improve)

And oh! here and there you guys please feel free to blog especially if you want to give comments or suggestions, esp to songs. (just ask boon wei if you want the userid and password, or me! i just got it from him, lol)

for example:
general:
1)whenever you have long notes, try to have dynamics- crescendo then decrescendo.
2)before you sing the song, stare hard and study the lyrics. what do they mean to you. if you were the solo, how would you sing it to bring the meaning of the song out. if you were the accompanient, at which part would you stress to give the impact, to support the solo so that the song sound nice. SAME VOLUME AND MONOTONOUS STYLE IS NOT NICE.
3)to the accompaniment, always treat yourself as a solo, of course dont overpower the REAL solo, but in terms of the feelings. just because your lines are full of dos and nahs and dm and oo doesnt mean you can just slack and sing and think the solo is the one everyone's watching anyway. you are as important as the solo! so you've gotta study your lines too, and inject feelings and dynamics to your lines! can follow (1) if u're really clueless. that's just a general guideline i suppose. =D

In any case, it's really fun to sing with you guys~ LOL! if i'm free and i can figure out how to insert the recordings i've recorded during practices, i'd try to make this blog more picture-ry, song-y and not just WORDY.. think it'd look nicer. haha.. and we can all insert links to the original songs so that we can have refernece. (i was listening to hana the original version, sent by hidhir. thanks hidhir! wow, really very japanese..)cant do it now though 'cause i'm in office now. =p will do it when i'm at home!

2) For members who have already know that they cannot make it for certain rehearsals, please notify Jeremy Tan on this Saturday if you are going for rehearsal, or please inform me. We are collating the list so that we can facilitate the rehearsals better. We do not wish something like last Saturday (8 March) where only 11 people turn up.

3) We are intending to set up a fund within ourselves so that we do not need to use the Acappella Society's money to print for the scores we are using. Also the money can be used for celebrating birthdays for the members.

4) TAS Yv will have their own concert towards the end of this year (Nov/Dec). According to Angie, If we have enough members, we will be seperated into 3 teams to sing.

People if you have certain people that you would like to sing with, please notify me or Jeremy Tan as we need to collate this list as well.

5) For this Saturday's rehearsals, it will start at 3pm instead of 2pm. Angie will be there to direct the rehearsals.

And lastly, if you are thinking why am I doing is, Jeremy Tan and I are now I/C for Admin and Discipline. Salima will be I/C for all the scores. So if you have question about performances, you can ask either one of us. If you are unavailable, please tell your respective sectional leader, and if you do not have any of the score, please approach Salima.

Yep thats all for the updates. Been a long post. People performing this saturday remember to rest well and drink tonnes of water =) So yep. Jia you and Have fun =)
